Tibial plateau fracture: Schatzker type IIIb

Age: 40
Gender: Male
  • In the frontal radiograph a subtle loss of contour is visible in the medial aspect of the lateral tibial plateau, suggestive of a depressed fracture. 
  • A hairline fracture line can be seen in the lateral view.

CT confirms a circumscribed depressed fracture in the medial aspect of the lateral tibial plateau.

Case Discussion

The case demonstrates an isolated depression fracture of the lateral tibial plateau, which falls into the IIIb subcategory according to the Schatzker-classification system.
