Presentation

Fell on the knee

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

Combined cleavage and compression fracture of the lateral tibial plateau. Extends to the medial tibial plateau. 

The distance between the lowest point of the intact tibial plateau and the depressed fragment 9 mm.

Fracture of the proximal fibula .

Fat-fluid level of lipohaemoarthrosis is noted in the suprapatellar recess.

Case Discussion

Patient was admitted for a CT after she fell on her knee. CT images demonstrate combined fracture and cleavage of the lateral tibial plateau with the fracture line extends to the medial tibial plateau. Another smaller fracture at the most inner part of the medial tibial plateau .

Imaging findings are consistent with Schatzker type V.
