Presentation
Prepared for knee arthroplasty
Patient Data

Marked bilateral osteoarthritic changes, seen as obliterated tibiofemoral joint compartment on right side and narrowed on left side, marginal osteophytes, and narrowed patellofemoral articulation with polar osteophytes.
Secondary bilateral genu varum.
Bilateral dense diaphyseal bands are noted at the proximal medial tibial shafts with periosteal reaction and cortical sclerosis, in keeping with bilateral medial tibial shaft stress fractures.
Case Discussion
Here are two complications of advanced osteoarthritis of knee joints, secondary genu varum and bilateral stress fractures of medial tibial shafts. These are rare secondary findings that occur in obese old women with chronic osteoarthritis of the knee.
