Ulnar nightstick fracture

Presentation

Assault with bar.

Patient Data

Age: 25-30 years
Gender: Male
X-ray

Mildly displaced transverse fracture of the proximal ulnar shaft. Overlying soft tissue swelling. No angulation present. The radius is intact and the PRUJ and DRUJ are normally aligned.

Case Discussion

Believe it or not, this patient was hit across the forearm with a iron bar as he raised it over his head for self protection.
