The subcutaneous calcaneal bursa, also known as the retro-Achilles bursa, retroachilleal bursa, or superficial retrocalcaneal bursa, is an adventitial bursa located between the calcaneal tendon and the skin 1-5. It is distinct from the retrocalcaneal bursa, which is located between the calcaneal tendon and the posterior angle of the calcaneus.
