Succenturiate lobe of placenta
Download
Info

Evaluation of the placenta during a singleton second trimester ultrasound demonstrates the main body of the placenta positioned along the posterior uterine wall. A separate placental lobe is seen anteriorly, with the connecting vessels extending across the fundus.
Case Discussion
Appearance is consistent with a succenturiate placenta.
Importantly, greyscale and color images of the internal os are obtained to demonstrate that there is no vascular connection across the os (i.e. no vasa previa).
