Kyphoscoliosis in a patient with Marfan syndrome

Presentation

Spine deformity. Known Marfan syndrome.

Patient Data

Age: 19 years
Gender: Male

There is significant scoliosis in the thoracic spine with convexity to the left (Cobb angle = 47 °). Also, hyperkyphosis in the thoracic spine and hyperlordosis in the cervical spine are evident.

Small marginal osteophytes can be seen along with a decrease in the width of the intervertebral spaces on the concave side of the spinal curves.

The mentioned findings are accompanied by chest deformity.

Connective tissue disorders such as Marfan syndrome can cause scoliosis, usually accompanied by chest wall deformity.
