Endometrial polyp - hysterosalpingogram

Case contributed by Mohammad Taghi Niknejad
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Work up for intermenstrual bleeding and secondary infertility.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female
Fluoroscopy

An oval-shaped eccentric filling defect with a smooth margin is noted in the endometrial cavity, which is strongly compatible with an endometrial polyp.

Sub-mucosal fibroid could be considered in the differential diagnosis.

Case Discussion

The patient underwent hysteroscopy and mass resection, and histopathology evaluation confirmed a benign endometrial polyp.

Most endometrial polyps are benign, and polypectomy is often enough.
