Abnormal edematous soft tissue seen interposed between the ilio-tibial tract and the lateral femoral condyle exhibiting low signal in T1 and bright signal in T2 and STIR.

Case Discussion

The condition usually results from chronic knee overuse with repeated friction of the iliotibial tract against the lateral femoral epicondyle. It may also be known as Iliotibial band friction syndrome.
