Microtia and right hearing loss.

The sections show at the level of right ear a malformed and small pinna findings consistent with microtia. On this side an external auditory canal cannot be identified. Structures of the inner ear are normal.
Case Discussion
External auditory canal atresia is a rare congenital disorder, the diagnosis frequently is made at birth, but in this case the patient is 8 years. This raises the question of why it was not noticed at birth?
This kind of abnormality is commonly linked with dysplastic ears. In this case the external auditory canal atresia is linked abnormality of the pinna (microtia), but inner ear looks fine.
