As well as ECG leads and stickers, there is a permanent pacemaker (PPM) in the right chest wall with a single right ventricular lead. Projected through the cardiac shadow is a metallic stent which is an aortic stent. This has been placed using a minimally invasive approach in a technique known as TAVI - trans-catheter aortic valve implantation. This provides a much safer alternative to traditional surgical replacement of the aortic valve in symptomatic aortic stenosis.
