Download
Info

Full-thickness lesion of the quadriceps tendon, above the insertional site, with muscle retraction and joint effusion in the suprapatellar synovial recess.
There are also tears of the vastus medialis and lateral vastus muscle.
There is patella baja with bunching of the patellar tendon.
Case Discussion
These injuries are often from eccentric loading of the knee while slightly bent, such as a change of direction during the run or from a jump landing. Tears usually occur just above the insertion onto the patella.
