Presentation
History of obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and type 2 diabetes with a history of hip pain and stiffness.
Patient Data

Severe degenerative changes in the right hip are evident by severe joint space narrowing and sclerosis at the weight-bearing aspect of the acetabulum and femoral head. Osteophytosis and moderately severe subchondral cystic changes are also noted. There are no significant degenerative changes in the left hip or SI joints. The bone density is normal considering technique in this patient with large body habitus.

On retrospective review, there are severe degenerative changes in the right hip seen in this prior CT obtained for other reasons. There are marked cystic changes in the femoral head and acetabulum, notably at the weight-bearing aspect, in addition to joint space narrowing and sclerosis. Bone density is normal and there is no soft tissue swelling.
