The umbilical cord shows:
- double nuchal cord: the placental end crossed over the umbilical end (type A)
- normal central insertion of the placental end
- Normal 3-vessel configuration
- normal Doppler study
Case Discussion
A double loop nuchal cord is demonstrated in this case. It is considered type A, where the placental end crosses over the umbilical end of the cord. This type can undo itself and so follow up scan is recommended. Color Doppler helps to assess single or multiple turns of nuchal cord.
