Health fitness evaluation prior to the commencement of new employment.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
x-ray
  • no evidence of bony injury
  • multiple bone islands are seen in diffuse symmetrical patterns concentrated around the acetabulum, in the pelvic bones, proximal and distal parts of femurs, and proximal part of tibias suggesting osteopoikilosis
  • melorheostosis at both femora and the medial aspect of the left proximal fibula

Case Discussion

Osteopoikilosis is often found concurrently with osteopathia striata, and melorheostosis, and it is thought by some that they represent a spectrum of the same condition termed mixed sclerosing bone dysplasia.
