Info

Several diverticula are seen at the distal colon accompanied by a short segment sigmoid colon wall thickening surrounded by fat stranding. No intraperitoneal free air or pericolic abscess formation.
Case Discussion
Regarding patient history and the presence of multiple colonic diverticula, features are most consistent with acute colonic diverticulitis.
CT is the modality of choice for diagnosing and staging colonic diverticulitis, and the sigmoid colon is the most common site of diverticula formation and colon diverticulitis.
