Presentation
Incidental left breast lesion, on CT
Patient Data
The left breast shows a well-defined heterogenous mainly hypoattenuating mass lesion with internal fat foci.
The left breast shows a well-defined opacity shows internal lucencies seen retro areolar giving breast within a breast appearance, as well as calcified oil cyst.
No dominant spiculated lesion.
No skin retraction, skin thickening, or nipple retraction.
No axillary adenopathy.
The left breast shows a well-defined encapsulated lesion with internal hyperechoic and hypoechoic components seen retro areolar measuring about 5 x 1.8 x 4 cm, suggesting hamartoma.
Case Discussion
Breast hamartoma is a benign, uncommon slowly growing lesion, it appears as breast within a breast appearance on mammogram, and as a well-circumscribed, encapsulated, solid lesion with internal mixed both hyperechoic and hypoechoic components, without any intralesional microcalcification.
This case is typical appearance of hamartoma on CT, mammography and ultrasound, in asymptomatic patients.
