Presentation
History of left retroperitoneal neuroblastoma. Treated with chemotherapy and surgery. Presents now with metastatic bone lesions and lymphadenopathy. CT follow-up after second-line chemotherapy.
Patient Data
diffuse and regular thymic calcification, with no anterior mediastinal mass. There is no mass effect nor peripheral enhancement suggestive of thymic metastasis
there is no tumour recurrence in the left adrenal compartment
ill-defined mass involving the metaphysis and proximal diaphysis of the right femur with an associated pathological fracture
Case Discussion
This case illustrates probable chemotherapy-induced thymic calcification with calciphylaxis, which is an equivalent of mouse thymectomy obtained by Miller1 and the selective calcification of the thymic cortex obtained by Selye2 using dihydrotachysterol and glucocorticoid injections.
