Updates to Case Attributes

Body was changed:

Congenital overinflation of the left upper lobe, unchanged on serial X-rays almost from birth (several days old).

The first chest X-ray on the day of birth was misleading, as it were, as the left upper lobe was radiopaque. In the early post partumneonatal period, the affected lobe contains fetal fluid and tends to appear opaque and homogeneous because of fetal lung fluidbe homogenously radiopaque or it may show a diffuse reticular pattern that representsrepresenting distended lymphatic channels filled. Subsequent radiograph shows progressive overinflation of the left upper lobe, in keeping with fetal lung fluida congenital lobar overinflation.
