COVID-19 pneumonia

Case contributed by Dr Edgar Lorente

Presentation

Fever and two days of odynophagia; positive test for SARS-CoV-2 RNA.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female
X-ray

On admission

Opacity in the right lower lobe.

X-ray

Three days later

Slight increasing of the opacity in the right lower lung field, without changes in the other fields.

Case Discussion

The patient had normal oxygen saturation and no lymphopenia.

Although SARS-CoV-2 infection (COVID-19) is described as possibly having a rapidly progressive course, it can sometimes manifest itself as ground glass / ill-defined consolidation that remains relatively stable.

In our case, the patient, despite her age, remained clinically stable and was discharged to home quarantine.
