The steps of CT guided renal biopsy
1. Surface markers to ascertain best pathway to biopsy
2. Infiltration needle to ensure correct pathway and infiltration down to the capsule
3. Co-axial needle sited to biopsy 2cm core of renal tissue
4. Needle path often better delineated on bone windows
Case Discussion
There is an increasing large number of increasing large body habitus people for whom we must image and management.
CT guided biopsy has an advantage in large BMI patient's over ultrasound which is technically more difficult in this type of patient.
