Presentation

Left iliac fossa pain with peritonism and raised inflammatory markers. Clinically suspected diverticulitis.

2 cm focus of fat with surrounding inflammatory change in the anterior aspect of the left iliac fossa. The adjacent colon is normal.

No free fluid. No collection. No free gas.

The solid organs are normal.

No other abnormality in the abdomen or pelvis.

Case Discussion

Appearances in keeping with epiploic appendagitis.

It is an important diagnosis to correctly infer as it can be managed conservatively without surgical intervention.
