Rarely the pancreatic tail is bifid, resembling that of a fishtail. Thus it is known as a fishtail pancreas.

Alternatively, the distal humerus can have a contour abnormality secondary to the lateral trochlear ossification centers failing to develop. This is known as a fishtail deformity.
