Difficult lumbar puncture on the ward

Patient Data

Age: 75
Gender: Male

Informed consent obtained.

Patient positioned prone.

Sterile prep and drape.

1% lignocaine local anaesthetic.

Under fluoroscopic guidance via posterior approach a 22G spinal needle was inserted into the L3/4 intervertebral space.

CSF samples obtained.

Needle removed and dressing applied.

No peri procedural complications observed.

Case Discussion

Lumbar puncture performed in fluoroscopy in the prone position.
