There is soft tissue odema in superficial to extensor tendon slip over proximal interphalangeal joint.
There is an echogenic focus ( 1 mm ) within this odematous tissue - a Foreign body. It lies about 4 - 5 mm proximal to proximal interphalangeal joint line.
There is mild effusion in palmer recess of proximal interphalangeal joint.
Extensor and flexure tendons are normal. There is no erosion of cortex.
Case Discussion
Findings of a soft tissue foreign body ( thorn particle ) involving subcutaneous plane of finger with associated interphalangeal joint effusion.
