Dextroscoliosis with degenerative change.

L2/L3 porous titanium interbody fusion cage.

L3/L4 and L4/L5 polyetheretherketone (PEEK) interbody fusion cages (with radiopaque markers).

Case Discussion

Both porous titanium and polyetheretherketone (PEEK) have been used for interbody fusion cages that can be placed percutaneously.

Distinguishing PEEK cages from carbon fiber cages from hybrid carbon fiber reinforced PEEK cages radiographically is challenging as all three appear largely radiolucent with only radiopaque markers readily visible.
