Presentation
History of traumatic brain injury. Evaluate burden of chronic sinusitis.
Patient Data

There is severe mucosal disease in the maxillary sinus, left ethmoidal air cells, frontoethmoidal junction, the right frontal sinus. There is soft tissue fullness in the right frontal sinus which extends into the superior right orbit. The posterior wall of the right frontal sinus is dehiscent just above the orbital roof.
Other findings include a right frontal craniotomy, encephalomalacia in both inferior frontal lobes (right more than left), and a fracture in the left superior aspect of the sphenoid sinus.
Case Discussion
This is a case of a mucocele within the right frontal sinus.
The patient was taken to the operative room where he underwent a biopsy of the mass. Pathologic specimens were consistent with inflamed and edematous respiratory mucosa and reactive bone with fasciitis-like stromal reaction and hemosiderin deposition. These findings were consistent with a mucocele.
