Acute abdominal pain. Appendicitis?
Patient Data

At the right lower quadrant there is a focal area of fat stranding with the greatest dimension of 6.0 cm. In this area, the density of the greater omentum is increased, with mild dilation of the vessels.
There are no signs of appendicitis.
A calcified lesion in the VIII segment of the liver – is not important.
Case Discussion
Omental infarction is a rare disease. Its typical location is the right lower quadrant as we can see in this case. Usually, it is larger than 5 cm – which is also present in this case. Omental infarction can clinically mimic acute appendicitis as they both can cause acute abdominal pain in the right lower quadrant.
