Os calcaneus secundarius (an accessory ossicle) is demonstrated with a pseudo-arthrosis between it and the anterior process of the calcaneus. The calcaneus secundarius articulates with the navicular.
This anatomical variant may be the source of the patient's symptoms. The other foot is shown for comparison.
Case Discussion
An os calcaneus secundarius is an accessory ossicle of the anterior calcaneal process present in up to 5% of the population at cadaveric examination.
