Football player complaining of perineal pain with right resisted hip adduction and right upper thigh pain.

Patient Data

Age: 15 year old
Gender: Male

Bone marrow edema around the symphysis pubis with high signal intensity in the adductor attachments on the right side of the symphysis.

Case Discussion

Inflammation of the pubic symphysis and adjacent structure can arise in athletes, especially in those engaged in sprinting, kicking, twisting and cutting, such as football players. 

This young football player presented with osteitis pubis and right adductor tendinopathy (athletic pubalgia).
