Paget disease

Case contributed by Dr Jan Frank Gerstenmaier

This elderly patient presents with fecal incontinence

Patient Data

Age: 85 years
Gender: Female

There are no abnormally dilated loops of bowel. Moderate amount of fecal residue in the right colon. There is no evidence of free intraperitoneal gas or fluid. There is thickening of the ileo-pectineal line in the right hemipelvis along with cortical thickening and prominent trabeculations. The findings here are consistent with Paget disease. There is loss of vertebral height of L2 in keeping with a compression fracture of undetermined age.

Case Discussion

Incidental finding of Paget disease in the hemipelvis on the right. Thickening of the ileopectineal line is an early and sensitive finding.
