Ultrasound image of the solid thyroid mass. The lesion is tall as broad and it has no lucent surrounding "halo".
Case Discussion
There are two ultrasound criteria here causing concern:
- the lesion is tall as broad
- the lesion has no lucent surrounding "halo". The halo is an important ultrasound indicator of a likely benign lesion. The converse is true as well
This was a confirmed papillary carcinoma thyroid.
