Info

This stack of images shows the formation of an aortic intramural hematoma (IMH). Intramural hematoma begins with rupture of the vasa vasorum, which are blood vessels that supply the aortic wall. This results to bleeding and hematoma formation within the medial layer of the aortic wall.
Case Discussion
This diagram depicts the formation of an aortic intramural hematoma from spontaneous rupture of the vasa vasorum. Aortic intramural hematoma is one of the possible causes of an acute aortic syndrome.
