Posterior acoustic shadowing and enhancement

The calculi in the kidney and gallbladder cause pronounced posterior acoustic shadowing.

The hepatic cyst demonstrates the opposite phenomenon of posterior acoustic enhancement.

Case Discussion

Posterior acoustic shadowing and enhancement are two everyday key important concepts in ultrasound imaging.
