No fracture was detected. Incidental note of a pseudoepiphysis of the 2nd metacarpal base.

Case Discussion

The normal metacarpal epiphyses are located distal ends (heads) of the second to fifth metacarpals. Clefts or notches at the non-epiphyseal ends of tubular bones are called pseudoepiphyses. This anatomical variant should not be confused with fractures.
