Sigmoid diverticulitis with wall thickening and surrounding fat stranding complicated by local perforation and abscess formation posterolateral, with abscess containing air-fluid level. Adjacent peritoneal thickening. Pan colonic diverticulosis. No pneumoperitoneum and no fistula formation.
Case Discussion
The location of the abscess makes it difficult to access for percutaneous intervention. Other complications to carefully evaluate for in such cases include venous thrombophlebitis, liver abscesses and fistula formation.
