Info

A sailboat with a red spinnaker sail. A spinnaker is a large, lightweight, balloon-shaped sail designed for sailing downwind. It billows outward when filled with wind, maximizing speed and efficiency by capturing as much air as possible.

Case Discussion

Spinnaker has been used in two radiological sign contexts.

1.  In pneumomediastininum in the neonate on chest x-ray

2.  In vocal cord paralysis on CT chest

Both assigned this name due to the shape of the pathology being like the shape of a spinnaker sail.
