Presentation

Female 31 years, microcephaly, mental retardation, does not speak from birth. Study requested by cranial contusion

CT shows Multiple intraparenchymal calcification with  enlarged ventricles. Increased extracranial soft tissue in parieto-occipital region left

Case Discussion

CT demonstrates ventriculomegaly, and scattered periventricular calcification, consistent with intrauterine TORCH infection, in this case cytomegalovirus (CMV).  The differential diagnosis in these findings may include Tuberous Sclerosis.
