New onset murmur with concern for cardiac pulmonary edema

Right upper lobe ground glass alveolar opacity and air bronchogram sign. Differential diagnoses include blood, pus, water and protein.
Left lung is clear. No pleural effusions.





Flail posterior leaflet and mitral regurgitation.



1 week post operative image showing a prosthetic mitral valve in place. Left pleural effusion-post operatively.
Case Discussion
Cardiac catheterization showed no CAD and patient had a prosthetic Carpentier Edwards mitral valve placement.
Final pathologic diagnosis:
A) mitral valve leaflets, anterior (resection):
- Cardiac valve leaflets with no significant pathologic change.
- No evidence of vegetations.
B) mitral valve leaflets, posterior (resection):
- Cardiac valve leaflets with no significant pathologic change.
- No evidence of vegetations.
