Presentation
Slipped on the floor resulting in a right ankle injury. Negative radiograph for a fracture. Post 1 week immobilization for an ultrasound evaluation of the ankle.
Patient Data

Mild effusion in the ankle joint anterior recess. Bony avulsion of the distal fibula at the attachment site of the anterior inferior tibiofibular ligament. Edematous anterior inferior tibiofibular ligament resulting in hypoechoic echopattern without any loss of continuity. Avulsed bone flake measures 5 mm. Displacement is less than 2 mm.
Normal anterior talofibular ligament and normal calcaneofibular ligament.
Case Discussion
