Hepatic carcinosarcoma

Hepatic carcinosarcoma is a very rare tumor that is defined by mixed histological features. 

Terminology

This tumor has also been referred to as malignant mixed tumor, spindle cell carcinoma, pseudosarcoma or sarcomatoid carcinoma 1,2

Pathology

Hepatic carcinocarcinoma contain a mixture of carcinomatous (usually hepatocellular or cholangiocellular) and sarcomatous elements 1,2

Treatment and prognosis

This tumor has a very poor prognosis with high rates of metastatic disease 1
