This is a FDG PET-CT study performed for staging of clinically diagnosed choroidal melanoma. Whole body PET-CT showed raised FDG avidity in the right orbit which corresponded with clinical exam findings. No FDG-avid metastasis was demonstrated elsewhere.
Case Discussion
Cutaneous melanoma generally shows high intensity FDG uptake. Choroidal melanoma FDG avidity, however, remains to be well studied in terms of sensitivity and specificity. This case is an example that shows FDG PET avidity in a clinically diagnosed choroidal melanoma.
