Bibasal opacities with focal opacity in the right lower zone. Associated right sided volume loss. Blunting of right costodiaphragmatic contour. Normal cardiomediastinal contour. Incidental note of azygos lobe with distended azygos vein.
Case Discussion
An enlarged azygos vein has a long list of causes. In this case it is due to azygos continuation of the IVC (confirmed on CT - not shown), a rare anatomical variant. This case also demonstrates an azygos lobe, which is a common anatomical variant.
