Presentation
Abnormal uterine bleeding. Negative pregnancy test. LMP 1 week ago.
Patient Data

Endovaginal grey scale and color Doppler ultrasound images reveal a focal endometrial mass with a feeding vessel (best seen on the transverse uterus Doppler image) and is compatible with an endometrial polyp. The feeding vessel indicates the stalk attachment of the polyp to the uterus.
Case Discussion
A well circumscribed echogenic endometrial thickening with a central feeding vessel in a stalk is highly suggestive of an endometrial polyp. However, the central feeding vessel is not pathognomonic as it can occasionally be seen with atypical fibroids or endometrial carcinoma.
Differential Diagnosis:
- submucosal fibroid
- endometrial hyperplasia
- endometrial cancer
