Presentation
Sudden collapse with loss of consciousness. No prior medical history.
Patient Data

Endotracheal tube tip is 1cm from the carina. Retraction by approximately 3cm is suggested. Small lung volumes.
Diffuse ground glass opacification of both lungs with a pleural effusion on the left. Dense consolidation in the left lower lobe.

Hyperdensity in the subarachnoid spaces consistent with an acute subarachnoid hemorrhage. Mild hydrocephalus and brain edema.
Case Discussion
The CT was performed within an hour of the CXR. The combination of imaging findings is suggestive of neurogenic pulmonary edema secondary to raised intracranial pressure due to a subarachnoid hemorrhage.
