Case Discussion
This case illustrates features of the spectrum of medial medullary syndrome characterized by infarct involving the medial aspect of the medulla oblongata in the brain stem causing contralateral hemiplegia/hemiparesis as well as a hemisensory loss with ipsilateral hypoglossal palsy (ipsilateral tongue weakness and atrophy) from the involvement of CN XII nucleus.
