Presentation
Fever and alternatively dry and productive cough for 5 days.
Patient Data

Large consolidations in the right upper lobe, with a bulging horizontal fissure, and right lower lobe.





Huge right upper lobe consolidation with air bronchograms and ground glass medial border, two similar large right lower lobe consolidations, and smaller opacities in the right middle lobe.
Patchy ground glass opacities in the left lower lobe.
Minimal amount of right pleural effusion.
Case Discussion
Lobar pneumonia predominantly affecting the right upper and lower lobes.
Blood cultures taken on the same day as the CT exam yielded Streptococcus pneumoniae.
