Left sided biconvex pleural collection along the lateral chest wall. The obtuse angle with the chest wall indicates this arising from the pleural space.
Heart size normal. Right lung clear.
Case Discussion
This is a classical appearance of a pleural empyema.
The obtuse angle with the chest wall and the biconcave shape are typical. The right pleural space is completely normal.
Percutaneous drain insertion was undertaken which confirmed a pleural empyema.
