Marked dilatation of the cecum measuring up to 9 cm in caliber. Air-fecal material level within. A twist of the proximal ascending colon and its mesentery is consistent with a cecal volvulus. There is preserved colonic wall thickness and enhancement. Normal appendix. Apart from mild local stranding at the region of mesenteric twisting, no discrete free fluid or free gas in the abdomen.
The remainder of the abdominal viscera is normal.
Case Discussion
Imaging features are those of cecal volvulus.
