Post COVID-19 pulmonary fibrosis

Diagnosis probable

Presentation

The patient has passed COVID-19 pneumonia 3 months ago. Progressive shortness of breath thereafter.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Male

There is significant reticulation in both lungs mainly in the lower zones and peripheries.
The lung apices are relatively spared.
Normal opacification of the heart, pulmonary trunk, pulmonary arteries to lobar and segmental branches without any filling defect to suggest pulmonary thrombo-embolism.
No pleural effusion or pneumothorax in the either side.
No supracentimetric suspected hilar or mediastinal lymph nodes are seen.
Trachea and major bronchial tree is normal.

Case Discussion

Keeping with post COVID status and distribution of the fibrosis, the features are in favor of fibrosing stage of disease process.

Limitation: No pre-COVID old images of the patient were available to compare with.
